Image
Name: Dora & Luna Breed: German Shepherd & Husky First time at Sanctuary: 06/13/2010 Description: When Dora & Luna were at Sanctuary they became known as generous and giving dogs. Helping any dog who needed in any way they could. After the Fall of Sanctuary Dora & Luna continued these deeds as they helped many animals in the Land of the Oak. No matter what kind of animal may need help Dora & Luna will do whatever it takes to help. They once rescued a bear cub from going into the Eternal Desert and asked for no reward in return except that the bears help maintain the peace in the Land of the Oak. Another time they helped save two birds who had just fallen out of their nest and in return, the birds promised to be Dora & Luna's eyes and ears all throughout the Land of the Oak. It's said whenever an animal is in need all they need to do is ask a songbird of the forest for help and Dora or Luna will arrive. Dora Luna

Chapter Eight: A Sacrifice

“ What just Happened?” Dagney asked as she gazed in awe of the light which had replaced Bonnie’s body.  “She’s been accepted by the Oak,” I said softly.  Dagney’s wide eyes became even wider. For a moment I thought they might simply slip out of her head.  “I thought we couldn’t be accepted by the Oak?”  Hojan shrugged his shoulders and coldly said, “The Oak does what it wishes. We have no control over it.”  I glanced at him, “The Oak has always accepted it’s heroes. Bonnie did not just sacrifice herself to save us, all of us, but she made such a decision so Bailey wouldn’t have too. She embodies a true Dog of the Oak.”  Hojan softly scoffed, “She didn’t do anything special. Everyone here would have done the same.”  I quickly retorted, “Then everyone here will be happily greeted by the dogs of the Oak when their time comes.” I could feel Hojan rolling his eyes, but before he could respond again we were interrupted by an unfamiliar voice....

Chapter Seven: A Corgi's Chance

“I can’t believe she would do that!” Hojan yelled.  “She is protecting her own, wouldn’t you do the same?” I asked.  He shook his head, “She’s not even considering what’s best for the group! Bailey is all she cares about.”  I nodded slowly, carefully considering my words, “Everyone needs someone who cares for them like that.”  He stopped pacing around the entrance and shot me the same glare he gave to her. “Everyone needs to learn how to fend for themselves. You can’t rely on others to help you when you need it most.”  “I’d like to believe you can. That’s why we’re doing all this for Atrix, and then we’re going to go and save all those dogs from the Scorching Desert. Right?”  Hojan huffed, “We’ll save Thomas.” The other dogs from the group began to approach, we formed into our teams and set out into the forest. It seemed like we were there in no time at all.  “Is everyone ready?” I asked the team as they nodded their heads. Some more c...

Chapter Six: Desperation

“Are you sure this is going to work, Storm?” Buddy murmured as we approached the Towers.  “C’mon, they’re just birds. How smart can they be?” Dagney asked.  “They may be small, but they are some of the most cunning opponents you will ever face.” I told her sternly as I continued, “When Frodo and Santana were taking me to you, we saw a group of elephants run through the Plains. They knocked down the towers and were harassing the birds pretty well, but eventually the birds got the best of them and—” I paused for a moment. “And what?”  Buddy stopped and pointed with his nose, “They did that.”  We turned looking to see the trunk and tusks of an elephant protruding out of a tower of trash. It wasn’t moving but the grey stuck out unnaturally in contrast with the amorphous blob it was crammed in. Dagney lowered her head and whispered, “Oh.” Her voice trailed off as she stared at the sunken elephant, “So that could be us?” She asked.  I nodded, “If we’re n...

Chapter Five: An Old Friend

I cocked my head to the side again, and at this point I was getting rather tired of doing this, “You weren’t accepted by the Oak?”  Hojan shook his head, “None of them can even find it. Whenever I try leading them to it they get lost.”  Thirteen chimed in, “We even tried tying rope around a few of them and they just vanished. Fortunately, everyone we took out knew their way back here. We even tried to get eleven to help us.” I straightened my head and looked at Thirteen who’s long brown hair was falling on either side of her shoulders, “Is that how he lost his hand?” I asked.  She shook her head, “No, that’s a different story.”  I shook my head in confusion, “What happened with Eleven? How do you know you aren’t accepted?” Hojan took a deep breath and glanced at Thirteen who leaned over and patted him on the head. “Eleven and I went to the Oak. I was turned away before being let in. They told me I can gaze upon the glory of the Oak, but until I am redeemed...
